Richard was born in Portland, Ore., to Lucille and Lester Rydman. He attended Franklin High School and was in the first graduating class at Marshall High School in 1962.
He worked for the Oregon Air National Guard for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janice; daughters, Sheryl, Andrea, Debbie, and Michele, and their spouses; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; older brothers, Mel and Don; and sister, Joyce.
A private service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Ray Hickey Hospice House, Vancouver, Wash., or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Please share a memory on the Rose City Funeral Home website.
