Joe,
My sympathies to you and your family on Dick's death. We go all the way to OLP. Sorry I couldn't make the funeral. I have sent, however, a contribution to St. Theresa in his memory.

TO THE SADLIER FAMILY:
Thank you so much for sharing my "spiritual" Father with me and so many others especially the people of St. Benedict the Moor in Bertrandville, LA, St. Augustine in Klotzville, LA , our pastor, Fr. Oliver O. Obele, MSP, and his beloved St. Theresa of Crowley.
About 19 years ago when I met Fr. Sadlier, we both shared that we had sisters in Providence, Rhode Island. We shared many conversations about visiting at the same time. Finally, this year we had worked it out and we would meet when I came for my sister's 25th year in her mission ministry and he came to bless Pat's wedding. I made my reservations months ago and the last thing I said to him in the hospital was to get ready to meet me in Providence. Well, he kept his word, but not like I had expected. The date of my visit coincided to the day with his wake and funeral. So, I am here to bring condolences from the bayous of LA and his dear friends back home, especially my mother, Marynell Stewart, your friends born in 1934 on the bayou, my nephew, T.J. Stewart and family, and his secretary, Pinky. One thing we knew is how much he loved his family. We want you to know how much we dearly and truly loved him. Everytime someone heard of his passing it was with sincere sympathy for the joyful, fun-loving, priest who had the type of presence that made you really know you were in the presence of the Lord's anointed and someone who truly found joy in his priestly ministry. We will miss him, but we know that he is okay and has probably given God a left-handed thumb's up because now everything, including his golf game, is truly doing ok.

My condolences to the Sadlier family.I remember so well a young blonde boy from his days at St. Mary's School.Such a fine boy.
He turned into a fine man and a credit to his family and to his church.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their condolences. I loved my uncle very much he was always in such good spirits no matter what the situation. One thing that he taught me is that we should look at death as more of a celebration of being in a better place. Now my uncle is in a better place looking down on us and praying for us everyday. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. We love you Uncle Dick. Love your neice ~ "little" Mary

Dear Family and Friends of Fr. Sadlier,
Please permit me to join you in grieving your loss and praying for the well-earned repose of Richard's soul with the Lord. We were classmates at Our Lady of Providence back in the '50s, then went our separate ways.
