Richard Shindel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 29, 2023.
Richard R. Shindel passed away peacefully at his home on November 9th, 2023 with family by his side, just weeks after an advanced cancer diagnosis. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann (Ziman) who passed away January 28th, 2019. Married for 53 years, Richard and Barbara are survived by 2 daughters, Laurie (Darren) DeGreef and Nikki Shindel. They were the loving grandparents of Nolan, Jack and Drew DeGreef, in addition to grandog, Bentley. Richard, along with his bag of candy, became a fixture at his grandson's baseball and soccer games. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all Wisconsin sports from the Green Bay Packers, to the Milwaukee Bucks, to the WI Badgers woman's volleyball. He loved golfing, trap-shooting, and keeping busy around his home, barns and surrounding woods on his Yardsport. In warm months he could be found running errands in his Slingshot, which had replaced the Harley he rode for many years. Richard spent his early years as a mason and then subsequent years driving coach busses for Lamers, where he drove the likes of Neil Diamond and many major sports teams including the Packers. At one point he even had secret service clearance and was able to meet a few presidents and other notable VIPs. Richard was a respected employee, generous friend, loving grandfather and the best dad anyone could hope for. Always loving and supportive, he did everything he could to ensure the success and happiness of his family and is missed greatly. In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be held on January 5th at Docs on The Fox in Waterford from 5-8pm. Please join the girls as they celebrate the lives of Richard and Barbara Shindel.
