Richard Thulean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 28, 2025.
Aurora - Richard Thulean began his eternal rest on September 21, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born on June 14, 1943, in Peoria, IL, to Roland H. and Agnes Thulean, Richard lived a life of

service to his community and family. After graduating from Peoria Woodruff High School in

1961 and Bradley University in 1965, he started his career as an 8th-grade math teacher at Keller Grade School. In 1972, he transitioned to a dedicated role as a State Farm Insurance Agent, a career he cherished for 48 years until his retirement in 2020.

Richard relocated to Springfield in 2020 and later to Aurora in 2024, where he enjoyed working

part-time at the Phillips Park Golf Course. His faith was central to his life, and he was an active

member of Main Baptist Church, where he dedicated his time to the Welcome Ministry.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Debra Thulean, and his surviving family: son Scott

Thulean; daughters Theresa Davis and Jennifer Horoky; son-in-law Christopher Horoky; sister

Sylvia Ropp; and his seven grandchildren: Haily Rains, Gunnar Rains, Jacub Thulean, Tyler

Thulean, and Kiley Davis. He also leaves behind his great-grandson, Sai Davis, Jr., and many

loving nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Theola Thulean, his parents, an infant

daughter, and his grandson Sai Davis.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4,2025 at 11 a.m. at Main Baptist Church, 814 E. Galena Blvd, Aurora, IL 60506.
