Richard Trebino Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2025.
Richard John "Dick" Trebino passed June 9, 2025, in the Tenafly house his grandparents built and he was born in August 30,1935. His parents were Stefano and Teresa Trebino. He was predeceased by his sister Agnes Olga Cavanna, husband Paul, brother Ernest Trebino, wife Leda and nephew Peter Cavanna. He is survived by niece Marcia Robinson and husband Kenneth of Danbury CT, nephews Jason Robinson of Bethel CT, Steven Robinson and wife Rhiana of Hypoluxo FL and grand nephews Jason jr, Jack and James Robinson.

Dick graduated from Tenafly High School in 1953 where he excelled in baseball and was inducted into the Tenafly Athlete Hall of Fame. His 3 home run playoff game was legendary. He played softball for years after high school and was inducted into the NJ State Softball Hall of Fame. Dick also bowled 20 years and maintained a 200 plus average with two perfect games. He took up golf at 49 when he's stopped playing softball and had 2 holes-in-one and an 80 plus average.

He spent 2 years in the army after high school, and later worked at the Post office in Tenafly for 38 years. He was a longtime NY Giants fan and ticket holder, and a NY Yankee fan. Dick was a proud member of the Italian Society Club, established in Tenafly 1898, and the Tenafly Elks. He attended and volunteered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Tenafly.

He had many lifelong friends, enjoyed a good meal, playing pinochle, working with wood, spending time with family, and doing sudoku puzzles.

Barrett Leber Funeral Home handled the arrangements. His funeral was held at Mt Carmel Church in Tenafly June 13, with Fr Richard Supple presiding, and he was laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to www.stjude.org
