Richard Twohey Obituary

Richard Joseph Twohey, 82, passed away on Tuesday at Friendship Manor Nursing home in Pewee Valley.

He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, the former Mayor of Rolling Hills and had served in the US Coast Guard. Richard was a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineer. He was a retired Mechanichal Engineer with General Electric and was an avid gardner.

Mr. Twohey was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Twohey; a brother, Donald Twohey, and a sister, Bobbi Pendergast.

Left to cherish his memory are his six children, Therese "Terri" Russell (David), Mary Russell (James), Thomas Twohey (Mary), Michael Twohey (Lisa), Joseph Twohey (Mildred) and James Twohey (Angela); sister, Mary Dwyer; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be in the parlor of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village on Friday from 2-8 pm.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please visit us at www.archlheadywestport.com to leave a condolence for the family.

He always made us laugh, we will miss the great derby parties that he and maryann held.He was'nt much for just sitting, always busy. I marveled at how he could keep up with the kids and grandkids..he kept them on their toes!

What a pleasure it was knowing this man. I always enjoyed the basketball games at his home with the neighbor kids. Great family. Glad I had to privilege to cross paths with Richard and the entire Twohey family.
