VEENSTRA Richard John Veenstra, of Jacksonville, passed away April 15, 2007 The son of Dr. John and Rhoda Veenstra, he was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelors degrees in Engineering and Architecture, as well as his Masters Degree in Architecture. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Veenstra founded Richard John Veenstra Architects and Planners and was a member of Redeemer Anglican Episcopal Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dr. John Veenstra, and his brother-in-law, Dr. John Boyd. He is survived by his wife, Alyce June Veenstra; children, Richard Mark Veenstra, Katherine Leigh Bradford and her husband, Reverend Brad, Preston Dean Veenstra and his wife, Charlene, and Eric Lynwood Veenstra; grandchildren, Katherine Melton, Heath Bradford, Caleb Bradford, Daniel Johns, Melissa Soloman. Josh Bradford, Noah Bradford and Richard Veenstra; great-granddaughter, Layla Bradford; 1 brother, Howard Veenstra and wife Joan; sister Peggy Boyd, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly recommends contributions be made to Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32216.
