Richard Villano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 14, 2017.
Mr. Richard B. Villano, 83, of Greensboro, went home to be with our Lord on February 12, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
It is often said that the measure of a man is not the day he was born or the day he died but, the space in between the dates. If this is true then Richard B. Villano more than surpassed that.
Born on July 9, 1933 to the Pellegrino & Theresa Marie Daiuto Villano in Malden, Mass. Richard grew up in Malden, Mass. He attended elementary and high school where he played all sports. He loved music, playing in both band and orchestra. Richard's beautiful voice contributed to the success of the choir as well. He loved to sing which was a trait he continued for his entire life. Rick joined the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Macon CA-132. While in Virginia he met the love of his life and future wife Nancy Rue Deafenbaugh. This coming April would they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Eventually they settled in Greensboro. Rick went to work for Curtis Packing Company and made his career there until his retirement. One of his favorite past times was cooking and he loved to entertain. He and Nancy were members of the Italian-American Club. Many nights were spent enjoying their many friends. Richard's greatest pleasure was being a father to James, Daniel and his wife Karen, and Anthony and even more so being a grandfather to his three beautiful granddaughters, Darby, Mary, and Samantha. Rick lived a long and happy life, loved many people and left many loved ones behind. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
"Here on earth it feels like everything good is missing since you left", lyrics from Dancing in the Sky, by Dani and Lizzy.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Dear Nancy, I was so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. My heart aches for you and your family.
What a sweet man he was! He always made me laugh when you two came to the craft store. I could tell that you really enjoyed each other.
I hope you will continue to make the most of every day, as Richard would want you to do. And hold on to the promise that he is happy and healthy in his heavenly home now and that you will see him again one day.
You are loved!

Even though I never met Richard Villano I feel like I've known him for years through his son Daniel. I've enjoyed listening to your stories of your childhood and the special bond you have with your father. You are just like your mentor and true to form you truly are your father's son.
