Richard Vincent Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2025.
Richard L. Vincent of Yarmouth Port, MA formerly of Enfield, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2025. He was born to the late Loretta and Lawrence Vincent on October 29, 1942. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Vincent. Richard graduated with his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from American International College in Springfield, MA, and taught World History in Enfield, CT, until his retirement in 2001. He was awarded three Fulbright Scholarships and took sabbaticals traveling, teaching and living in Paris, Israel, and Japan. He biked all over Europe bringing back first-hand information to his students.

Richard was an avid skier and a volunteer ski patroller for 50 years starting at Mt. Tom in Holyoke, MA, and for many years at Stratton Mountain in Vermont. He was an honorary lifetime member of National Ski Patrol.

Picture him on a sunny summer night grilling steaks or swordfish with salt lick potatoes for whatever company is in the house... with his Weber grill smoking, shades and his visor on... he's dancing around on the deck overlooking Follins Pond timing everything perfectly. Everything tastes amazing, and he has the most detailed descriptions to share with everyone about the light on the pond at night, and the sunset that's starting... there are so many fun memories like this. Richard was just the best. He was very interested in current affairs relating them to his knowledge of history. After retirement he enjoyed his boat the "Ms. Ellie" and skiing with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. He loved to bike all over the Cape. He was also an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife Tina, his daughter Pamela Vincent (Mark) of Syracuse, NY, his son Marc Vincent of Newington, CT, and his stepson Jason Humphrey (Kim) of Westford, MA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, Alec and Olivia Macaluso, and Laurel and Autumn Humphrey. He will be missed by so many close friends and relatives.

The family wishes to especially thank the Yarmouth Fire Department, the staff at Cape Cod Hospital and VNA Hospice of Cape Cod for their compassionate care of Richard. Very special people!

A celebration of life will be held at a later date on Cape Cod.
