Richard Leroy Washington
OKLAHOMA CITY OK – Richard L. Washington went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2014 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness in Oklahoma City, OK.
Richard was born in Lorain, Ohio on February 4, 1950. He was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Church at an early age. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1968. He worked at U.S. Steel and Ford Motor Company before relocating to Oklahoma City. Richard retired from the City of Oklahoma, Utilities - Water Department after 30 years of distinguished service.
Richard became a faithful active member of Prospect Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where he drove the church bus.
He enjoyed playing baseball and watching OKC Thunders, spending time with family, friends and telling a good story filled with laughter. Richard was an avid swimmer and loved spending his youthful summers swimming at Lakeview Park. One of his favorite pastimes was cruising in his Cadillac and Corvette and just enjoying the view.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Rochelle Golak (Dale) and three grandchildren, Jordan, Kendra and Bailey. His loving mother, Ida J. Quinn of Lorain, OH. His siblings Dotti Washington of Lorain, Gwen Tye Willis (Sullivan) of Akron, Luther C. Washington of Savannah, GA, Donald R. Washington (Ethel), of OKC., Barbara Quinn-Aldridge and Diane Quinn-Austin of Lorain; he also leaves his devoted aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Arneatha Washington, his father, Luther C Washington Sr., his step-father William A. Quinn, and his sister Darlene M. Quinn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Second Baptist Church, 300 West 13th St., Lorain. Viewing 10:00 a.m. and Service 12:00 Noon, Rev. Loversier Lewis, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
Final arrangements entrusted to the Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway, Lorain 244-1831.
