Richard Allen Williams 68, of Fruitland, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Shad Point, he was the son of the late George and Mary Kathryn “Kitty� Hitchens Williams. In his earlier years he was a Master Brick Mason working alongside his uncle for many years. He then worked for Bob Lawrence Enterprises for 17 years. He was then self employed working in home improvement. He worked for Imperial Bond Ware for 5 years, then as a Maintenance Director at Atria Assisted Living until his retirement in 2006. During his retirement he delivered and exchanged cars for Pohanka, which he enjoyed, until his illness in 2008. He was Past President and Assistant Chief of Fruitland Fire Department, belonged to the Masonic Lodge #221 of Salisbury, member and board member of Washington U.M. Church, Shad Point. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, trapping, wood working, camping, and loved to visit South Dakota. He was always known for his western wear and his many pairs of cowboy boots. He also enjoyed rodeos and PBR. He is survived by his wife F. Kay; children Malissa Shrieves and her husband Jeff, of Salisbury and children Josh and Jenny; and Melody Williams of Berlin and her children Steven, Kat, and Zaida; step-children Virginia “Ginger� Brinson, and her husband David of Aurora, NC and their children Lena, Cindy, and Beth, and David; and Kim Berry of Royal Palm Beach, FL and her son Rob; daughter-in-law Sheila Riall of Eden and her step-daughter Lisa; one sister Kay Venable and her husband Pat of Parsonsburg; one brother Tom Williams and his wife Linda of Eden and their children God-Son Justin Williams, and Erin Dollar and her husband Josh. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He had 4 beloved dogs, Tuffy, Max, Katie, and Minnie. He was preceded in death by his step-son Michael Riall. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Friends may call on Monday 6-8 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Rev. Carol Carlson, Rev. Benita Harris, and Rev. Sherwood McGrath will officiate. Interment will follow in Shad Point Cemetery.
