Rick Foerster Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 16, 2025.
We are heartbroken to share that Rick Lee Foerster passed away Friday July 11, 2025, at Sentara Regional Hospital in Williamsburg, VA. He was 72 years old.

Rick was born October 3, 1952, to Herb and Sally Foerster and lived in Detroit, MI along with his brother John and sister Shelly. In his youth he was active in the civil rights movement and known for his musical talents, adventurous spirit, and long curly hair. Rick met his wife, Signe, in Northern Virginia in 1975. Together they moved to New Orleans where Rick studied music and communications at Loyola University. As his family grew, Rick's journey led him away from music to a career in the car business, eventually settling in Williamsburg, VA, a town he loved.

Rick is remembered for his larger-than-life personality, deep devotion to his family, love of music, and kind, generous heart. He befriended everyone he met and was quick to welcome them as a dear member of his community, each having a "Rick story" to share.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Signe Foerster, with whom he shared 50 years, children Devon and Ryan Oliver, Justin and Kim Foerster, and Ashley Foerster and Eric Stalzer, brother John Foerster, grandsons Logan Oliver, Mason and Brayden Foerster, sisters in-law Suzie Darnes and Patricia Dodson, nephews George Dodson, along with his wife Becca and their children Angus and Erroll, Grant Galbraith and Brian Swartz, nieces Jessica Dodson, Kathryn Goodson and Sheila Conrad, and Laura Vickerman as well as countless friends.

He will be missed dearly.

In keeping with Rick's wishes, his family is holding a casual gathering for family and friends on Saturday, July 19. In lieu of flowers, please support a local charity of your choosing in Rick's honor. No other services are planned.
