Dear family of Rickie,
I am very sorry for the loss of your son Rickie. Once my Dad called and told me what had happened I stayed in touch with him so I could keep up with his progress. Everything that I have heard and read about him tells me he was a very special person in your lives. Although he will no longer be with you in the flesh spiritually he will be with you each and every day watching over what you say and do. The Lord chose a wonderful person to call home and he has special plans for him in Heaven. Rickie now walks along the golden roads of Heaven. He is basking in the Glory of God and is now a part of God's ultimate team. Your hearts will be strickened for awhile and your faith in the Lord will bring you to see him again one day. Rejoice in the Lord for all he does because he does it for a reason that we dare not question. My heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers.
Love you guys,
Valerie (Cansler) Fugate

I just heard about your lost. It broke my heart to hear the bad news. I didn't know him or the family but still yet it is bad. My prayers go out to the family of Ricky. God has a special place for us up there in Heaven and I know Ricky will make a great angel because I know he was an angel to his family. My sympathy goes out to you all and you have my prayeres.I know he will be missed. I work with the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew as an EMT-B and I enjoy helping people. An auto accident is something I hate working because someone always gets hurt of even worse. I love my job but also love the people I help.

Dear Willie and the Harris family,
I am so sorry for your devastating loss. As another bereaved mother, I understand the particular kind of pain the loss of your beloved child brings. Rickie was an amazing young man. I wish I could have met him.
You are in my thoughts and prayers,

You know I love you all. I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine and I discussed a few of my favorite memories of Rickie. I'm gonna give you a couple of them here.
The best one is whenever I'd see him, no matter where it was or when it was, he'd flex and stand on his tip-toes and say, I'm catchin up to you Mister FOOOOOORE, and then he would do his tough-guy laugh.
Then when the cute nurse came into his room, we were giving Rickie a hard time about puffing up for her. It definitely looked like he was flexing for her after she walked in. As we were ribbing him, I know I saw a smile on that boy's face, I know I did. That smile is what has carried me these past few days.
BA- I did wear orange and black today, even though you don't believe me. I owe you so much in my life, from going to UT, to getting back into school, to getting the job of a lifetime. You are so giving to others, and that is in Rickie, too.
If you ever doubt the number of lives he touched, you go talk to the kids who met him the one day he went to GC with me. You ask me how many of those kids called me since, and you'll know, you know how much he was admired and loved.

To Willie & the Harris Family,
I'm basically gonna say that You all are in my prayers and i'm sure a lot of people have told you this. I want to say that God has a purpose for everything he does! He's my stronghold and everlasting arm. I really encourage you all to lean on that because it helps me more than anything. If you're wondering how i know Rickie i met him whenever he came to Gate City one day and spent the day with Mr. Fore. And one day unexpectedly he called me, and he would randomly call me all the time. He always put a smile on my face and i'm sure that he put one on everybody's face when they saw rickie! Just remember a verse in the bible that says that God will not put more on you than you're able to bare! Just remember that! I love you all very much and most of all God Loves you! May God keep you & bless your lives!

Our deepest sympathies are extended to both the Harris and Price families for this great loss that they've suffered. Rickie was a fine young man, one that I and members of my family have had the pleasure of watching play football and basketball throughout the years. This small, close-knit community and school has suffered a tremendous loss, but it fails in comparison to loss and the grieve that his loved ones will experience for the years to come. May your faith sustain you; may God's love bring you strength and peace.

Words alone can never adequately express the depth of sorrow which we feel when a loved one is suddenly taken from us. But we take comfort from the God of all comfort, who Himself is described as a "Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief". Take comfort in Him and the assurance of the Resurrection! With deepest sympathy and our love!

I got to know Rickie at Norton Elementary School where I teach the 4th grade. My fondest memory of him will ALWAYS be this: every morning at the beginning of the school day, 5th and 6th grade kids would be picked to give a report of the weather. Most of the kids, bless their hearts, would stumble through their speeches or mumble so low and talk so fast you had a hard time hearing them. But not Ricky. That child would get on the intercom and just BLAST his energy right out at you!!!! Instead of simply reading his report he would put his own unique, self-confident spin on it!! He always made me laugh out loud. He was a wonderful kid! Billie, I am praying for you, Whitney and the entire family. God Bless you.

Our family wants to extend our sincere sympathies to you during this difficult time. From reading about Ricky, it was obvious that he was a wonderful young man. We lost our son, Grae, on 4/15/06 in a auto accident. Grae would have been 17 in July. We are so sorry that your family has suffered this loss.

Harris Family, I just finished reading the story of your beloved son, how proud of him you must be he accomplished so much to have been so young, I have a 15 year old son and I have shared Rickie's story with him, he also plays football. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that he is in good hands with our precious Lord Jesus Christ, and will be watching over you now. I don't know your family but I was very touched by the story and would have been honored to have known Rickie. God Bless.
