October 25, 1961 - May 25, 2022

With profound sorrow, Ricky Wayne Allen of Escondido, CA passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of May 25, 2022, following an 8-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). His loving, devoted wife and care-taker, Kiki was by his side. He was 60.

Ricky Wayne Allen was born on October 25, 1961 in Thayer, Missouri, the youngest of three children to Lloyd Wayne and Donna Jean.

Rick grew up in West Plains, Missouri where he formed many long-lasting bonds of tight-knit friendships that would remain with him throughout his entire life, including Craig Marsh, Yancy Yates, Chuck Smith, Mike Carroll, Mike Dockens, and the late James Roth and Gary Bethel.

Rick's first job was as a newspaper delivery boy at age 10. He attended West Plains High School, where he was involved in Track & Field as a hurdler; wrestling; tennis; the debate team and he played trumpet in band. As the son of a car salesman, Rick loved fast cars. He loved all racing in general but his #1 passion in life would forever remain his love of Nascar and Formula-1, especially Ferrari.

Rick had a very close bond with his mother, Donna Jean. He said his mom was the biggest influence in his life by teaching him to dance and his early interest in music, fashion and the arts.

After graduating from high school in 1979, at age 19 Rick moved to Bradenton Beach, Florida where he worked as a radio announcer at the AM station in the Sarasota-Bradenton Beach area. He also sold car stereo equipment at the notorious Kuban's Records and Tapes.

His early years working in the music industry fueled Rick's love of all genres of music especially on vinyl records. Owning a private library of rare and eclectic vinyl albums remained a life-long quest.

After weathering one too many hurricane seasons in Florida, Rick moved to Southern California in 1982 when he was 21 years old. He moved to La Habra Heights near his Uncle Ron and Aunt Kathi. From 1982 to 1990, Rick worked in car audio installation and later as a purchasing agent at Carl's Junior Corporate Headquarters.

Rick returned to Missouri in 1990 to be closer to his family and worked at Suzuki Motorcycle Company. He also worked in parts inventory at Motorcars International in Springfield, Missouri. Motorcars International appealed to his taste for the finer things in life, and he loved being around the chic exotic cars and his career in the high-end car industry.

After the devastating loss of both his parents, Rick moved back to California permanently in 1995, settling in San Juan Capistrano. He continued to follow his passion in the exotic car industry and took a job with European Auto Sales, Inc. in Costa Mesa, California. In 1996 Rick's passion took him to La Jolla in the San Diego area as Parts Department Manager at Symbolic Motor Car Company specializing in exotic and vintage cars; where he built a new parts department from the ground up.

Rick met the love of his life and soul mate, Kiki Abordo in 1997 while living in Ocean Beach. That Labor Day weekend turned into a lifetime. They lived in El Cajon for 15 years, they moved to Escondido in 2020. Rick's declining health slowed their life, but not their love. They loved attending music events and traveling. For their 20th Wedding Anniversary they took an Alaskan Cruise.

Rick's heart was a reflection of Missourian Culture, Values and Tradition. All who knew or interacted with Ricky Wayne Allen were undeniably experiencing the Good-Natured Charm of a Missouri-Boy who believed in treating others with respect, warmth, truth and openness. Rick never knew a stranger. His charismatic personality drew people into his life; as soon as you met him you loved him.

Rick's passions were Nascar, Budweiser, The Kansas City Chiefs, car racing, music, album and stereo equipment collecting, traveling, cooking, reading, gardening, talking to his many friends and neighbors and driving his 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible with the top down.

Rick and Kiki planned to move to the Sacramento area, and Kiki is continuing with that plan.

Even though Rick and Kiki only had 25 years together; they will live for eternity in Heaven.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Wayne and Donna Jean Allen; his father-in-law, Enrique Abordo; and his four-legged children, Dale Junior and Cloe Allen.

Rick leaves behind his loving wife Kiki Allen of Escondido, CA; sister, Jackie Daleen Ware and husband Mark of Missouri; sister Rhonda Kay Foley of Florida; his uncle Ron Childers and Aunt Kathi of Apple Valley, CA; sister-in-law, Pilar Abordo and mother-in-law, Kathy Abordo of Porterville, CA; several nieces and nephews; his wonderful friend, Glenn Grishkoff of Los Angeles and countless other friends across the Country.

A special thank you to the ALS Organization; to Karen, Jeanne, Corey and Lorraine for your love and friendship over the last year. You are truly Rick's Angels.

God bless you Kiki, Rick would be so happy and proud to read your eloquent account of his life written with such love and grace. I am wonderfully blessed for the opportunites to laugh and cry and pray with Rick, such a dear open hearted man. Charles and I are enriched to know him, and Bianca was greatly encouraged by Mr. Rick when she played her guitar for him; he was such a wealth of musical knowledge and experience. Praise God, hallelujah, thank you Jesus we will all be together again one day.

My husband, Allen, and I are among Rick's Missouri friends. We graduated with him in the Zizzer Class of '79. He was such a fun-loving, "wild-and-crazy" guy. His unique taste in music, style and humor always set him apart from the crowd. I never hear a Kool & The Gang song without thinking of Rick! Remembering his carefree spirit always makes me smile. We send our condolences on his passing. He will be missed by many.

Rick always had so much enthusiasm for life. As kids, we had so much fun together. Sometimes we forget that all things have a time limit and we take for granite that there will always be a tomorrow. I am so thankful that he and I were able to spend part of our youth together. Thank you Kiki for making his life so good. He truly loved you and it is easy to know that you loved him. Love you both!
