Rita Lorraine Culbertson

Rita Culbertson, 86, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Summerville, South Carolina, with her children by her side.

Born on April 11, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, Rita was the daughter of Margaret and Vernon Lawson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Walter Culbertson, who passed in 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother, Calvin Taylor.

Rita's life was centered around the love she had for her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Catherine Reeder, Brenda Robinson, Terry Culbertson, and Robin Watson; her sons Michael Culbertson and Walter Culbertson Jr.; as well as her grandchildren Lory, Lisa, Karen, Jennifer, Christine, Steven, and Thomas. Her legacy continues through eight great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

Rita found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished time spent with family and always appreciated a good television show to unwind. A tech-savvy spirit at heart, she took great pride in playing games on her iPad and often celebrated the levels she achieved. Her days were also brightened by the companionship of her two birds, Freddy and Rosie.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Rita's life.
