Rita Hughes

Mom,

I love you so much and will miss you more than words can say. I wish you didn't have to leave us, but I know it was your time. I just wanted you to be with us forever, but your heart and soul will remain with us, always. I love you, Mom.

As one of my closest friends I know Rita to be such a kind and generous soul. She did everything she could to help everyone that touched her life.
I will miss Rita everyday for the rest of my life.

Rita's life was a gift to her family, friends, community and the country

Rita was very a special person. She was very active in many organizations. . When the meetings got a bit heated,she always saw the positive side and made friends with everyone. She left a wonderful family as her legacy .

It is hard to believe that I won't see an incoming call from Rita Hughes on my phone any more. There were so many good conversations, by phone and in person. It was an honor to know someone that worked so hard for the good causes. Rita will be missed.

Rita was a beautiful soul and will be missed.

So very sorry for your loss. Rita was one of a kind. I have many memories of all the crazy times we had politicking and just having fun together.

Rita was my first cousin as her Dad and my Mother were brother and sister.














Rita and I were first cousins as her Dad and my Mother were brother and sister. Growing up we lived in Unionville and our families were pretty close and we visited a good deal. I and my siblings are older than Rita and her sisters so before you know it we all got married and moved off. Last year Rita contacted another one of our cousins and we all got together at a restaurant in Rehobeth and all got reaquainted and had a lovely visit with the promise to do it again soon. Unfortunately that did not happen and I'm surely sorry it did not. My deepest sympathy to all her family as I am sure she will be missed. In loving memory her cousin Carol {Burnett} Williams.

She will be missed A good friend and a valiant fighter for Justice.

Rita was one of the most dedicated and hardest working persons we have ever met. Our world was a better place with her in it.

Rita was an incredibly special woman. She was always someone I could count on to bring a positive outlook, a bright smile and a kind word. She will be sorely missed by many.

So many memories of Rita over the past ten years or so.

RitaMarie, the beautiful little auburn haired little next door neighbor I babysat on. The sweetest funniest little girl. The hours she and her family spent with my Mom and me at Hollaway beach, sitting on our frontporches uptown on State Street, and then her being my wonderful junior bridesmaid when Den and I got married . We lost touch until a few years ago and I was and am so proud of the woman,mother,grandmother and politically active person she became. We only regret that we did not get down for the visit we were always going to make last year. She was so special . She will always be a ray of Sunshine in anyone who knew her life. I am sure Bonnie and Katie will be waiting for their loving sister

Rita was a great Biden Delaware Delegate. She provided me Delaware contacts for "I know JOE" stories for ten successful weekly Nationwide Zoom meetings for the 2020 Presidential election.

I am so sorry to read of Rita's passing on Facebook. We met in 1978 when I first moved to Delaware. We became great friends for many years and spent many fun times together.Dave, Chrissy and Kimmy no words can express my sadness for you and family.
