Jeffrey Joel Rhodes

Rhodes Jeffrey Joel Jeffrey Rhodes, beloved son of the late Ida and William Rosenglick, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2022 after a long battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathryn, his son Nicholas, daughter Lauren, brother Arthur and nieces Zoe and Maggie and their children. He is predeceased by two brothers. Jeff was raised on the Main Line of Philadelphia and attended Lower Merion High School, where he excelled in sports as an All-American athlete in soccer and lacrosse. He received a full scholarship to The University of Pennsylvania for soccer. After graduating from Penn in 1969 he received an MBA from The Wharton School in 1971 and further pursued his education at Yale Law School, but did not finish and left to work on Hilton Head Island, SC for The Sea Pines Co. In 1974 he took a job with Urban Investment and Development Co. where he became Executive VP and CFO. In 1981 he left Urban for Miller Klutznick Davis Gray and was President of Real Estate. MKDG owned and operated properties such as Pebble Beach Golf Co, Aspen Ski Co and The Beverly Hills Hotel. Jeff moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1988 and shortly there after retired and met his wife, Katie. They married in Los Angeles in 1990, had twins in 1992 and moved to Seattle, WA for lifestyle reasons in 1993. In Seattle, Jeff created his own company, The Rhodes Co. He invested in various properties, including Flagship Marinas and spearheaded the move of Nordstrom's flagship store in Seattle, creating Pacific Place; a mixed-use retail center. In 1999 Jeff and Katie moved back to the Philadelphia suburbs to raise their children. Jeff did consulting for The Franklin Mint, sat on Penn's Athletic Advisory Board and continued with his investment endeavors. Jeff was a gifted businessman who loved orchestrating a complicated financial deal. He had a pilot's license in graduate school, but never became a pilot. A life-long athlete, Jeff was an avid skier, loved biking on the weekends with friends and learned to love golf later in life. He was a devoted father and husband. There will be no funeral or memorial service, just a private family gathering. The extended Rhodes family is very grateful for the superb care and loyalty of his care givers the last 10 years.
