Rita Tyson MORTON-Church Service for Rita Tyson, age 73, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Morton with Elder Steven Bloyd of Bel Air, Maryland and Rev. Lyndal Fletcher of Lubbock, Texas officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Rita died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1942, in Brownfield, Texas, to Hadley and Julia (Ball) Kern. She married Jessie Wynn Tyson in Morton on Feb. 16, 1973. Rita had lived in the Morton community all of her life. She was the Cochran County and District Clerk from 1986 until 2014. She was the Outstanding District Clerk of the State of Texas for 1990-1991. In 1996, Rita was elected as the President of the District Clerks' Association of Texas. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and attended in Muleshoe and Lubbock, and she also attended the First United Methodist Church of Morton. Rita is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Loy Scott Fralin. Rita is survived by her husband, Jessie Wynn; her two sons, John David Tyson and his wife, Shannon of Lubbock, Texas, and Joe Kern Fralin and his wife, Tatiana of Dripping Springs, Texas; her brother, Loy Kern of Lubbock; and four grandchildren, Haley Tyson, Lindsay Tyson, Hadley Fralin and Jacob Fralin. The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 110 S.W. 4th Street, Morton, TX 79346. Online condolences may be made at www.ellisfunerlahomes.com.
