Robbie,

Seven years ago today, the world not only lost a great brother but a great friend. There isn't a day that goes by that I miss you and think of you. The humor you could create out of the crappiest situations is incredible and lightens me always. May you rest in peace and may your memories live with everyone that knew you.

Robbie sounds like such a wonderful young man. As the Mom of a 19 yr. old who is deploying to Iraq, I just feel so heartbroken for you. I recently lost my Husband and was counting on him to help me through this deployment. These young men who sign up to defend our Freedom and Protect our country and give the ultimate sacrifice make me so proud. My heart breaks for your family. But he is truly a man to be so proud of.

You are remembered and respected. Thank you Cpl Light!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Robbie, but I am remembering his service.
He is my hero.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Please know how Deeply Sorry I was to learn of the loss of Cpl. Robbie G. Light, one year ago.

The price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.

May Robbie rest safely in the Loving Care of God and know that he is a True American Hero that will Never Be Forgotten.
May the Grace and Comfort of the Lord continue to be with the Light family.
There will Never be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank these Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

May the Peace of God and your precious memories of Robbie, remain in your heart always.
May this give you comfort and strength through the difficult days. Hope is not only the light we carry within...
It is also what often carries us through...

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Robbie, November 26th will mark the 1 year anniversary of the last time we saw your sweet smile before you left for Iraq. You will never be forgotten as we see that same sweet smile in your daughter, Ashlyn. In her you will live on forever. I know you are watching over her and Elizabeth. Please know that we are doing our best for your wife and daughter. We have collected many pictures, stories, memorabilia to share with Ashlyn when she is older. She is a beautiful and happy child, and I know in my heart you are proud of her. Thank you for this adorable angel. You made the ultimate sacrifice and are a true hero. Rest in peace and someday we shall all meet again. God Bless You and God Bless America.

It has been almost 2 months that you went away, but in my heart you will always have a special place. Everytime I've seen you, you always made me smile. You came into our lives and you left behind something beautiful..."that no matter what, always be content with what life brings you". You will always live throughout your daughter and that is something that no one can ever change, not even 100 years from now. I know you are looking from above and taking care of your family and watching over the rest of the guys in Iraq and I do thank you for that. You will always be in our hearts and hopefully one day we get to meet again. From my family to you and yours.

I didn't get the chance to serve with Robbie in Iraq but I did get the chance to serve with him for a little bit in Fort Hood, TX. For the short period that I served with him down in Texas, I observed his strong work ethic and his great personality. He got along with everybody. I may not know him that long but I do remember and I will never forget him. He is a real American Hero, he served on the front line so that his loved ones could sleep in peace everynight. To his family and friends, God Bless, Stay Strong, and keep his memories alive. Rest In Peace Soldier.

After attending the funeral service last night it really hit home that Robbie is gone. It breaks my heart to know that such a sweet man had to die so young. His family and Elizabeth and Ashlyn will be in my thoughts and prayers. And I know Robbie will be watching over and guiding his new baby girl. Robbie you will never be forgotten.

There's not enough words that can express how much Robbie meant to all of his friends and family. I knew Robbie quite well and feel very priveledged and blessed. He's my and many others' hero. Thinking about the time I first met him, all I could do was laugh and smile. The 7th grade was when I met him, I had just moved here from Detroit and he told me I 'talked funny'. He left my school and went to Sullivan middle. We seen each other at the mall and he would always throw his little basketball at me to get my attention. We became good friends in high school and he will always be my friend. I am thankful to him and ALL soldiers for laying their lives on the line so we don't have to live in fear. My heart was broken at 7:30 in the morning when I got a phone call saying that he was no longer smiling "that Robbie smile" on earth, but singing the praises of our Lord in heaven. I couldn't breathe and then I cried. Not only for him but for his mother and father and wife and soon to be daughter. Elizabeth and Ashlyn. My prayers and tears are with you all...God Bless and stay strong, you'll see him again along with all of our fallen soldiers. When you get that feeling like someone's looking at you or right behind you, it's probably your new guardian angel, Robbie. God Bless, Love- Raven Munz

TO Elizabeth and the parents to Robbie Light, I had the honor of knowing your son and husband through my son Sgt. Gregory Wright. Greg and Robbie came up one day where I work in Austin and we all had lunch together. I felt like I knew Robbie so well from the letters I wrote to him and his in return to me. I can not even begin to comprehend the pain you are going through and I can not even offer any words of comfort for I have never walked in your shoes in an event like this. I pray for you daily and ask God to send Archangel Michael to you for strenght and courage and Archangel Uriel for emotional healing. Just know that I will continue to pray for you and Robbie's and Elizabeth's beautiful daughter who will carry on Robbie's legacy in life. God Bless you and I hope at some point in our lives that our paths can cross to meet the parents and wife of such an amazing young man and husband.

To the Family of Cpl. Robbie Light:

I am originally from the Tri-Cities area and was very saddened to learn of your loss. In 1967, my family suffered the loss of my father in Vietnam (SFC William D. Sizemore). I always felt that my loss had at least some meaning if it meant no other children had to lose their parent in war. Now, we have yet another generation of children losing their parents in a war. Please tell Cpl. Light's child as much about him and his life as you can and make sure he has an honored place in their life as they grow up. It is no substitute for a father, but it is the best thing you can do for them. God bless you all.

Robbie,

From a Air Force vet....

I was from a small town in Kentucky. I can understand, in some small measure, the pride you must have felt going home in uniform. The pride was not yours alone; your community, your school, your friends all take pride in the knowlege that one of their own has made them proud. You will be missed, but not forgotten.

Robbie 14 yrs of being friends just wasn't enough! Robbie I know you are up there watching over all of us. I will always remember you as being the boy who use to sit behind me and pull my hair and poke me with his pencil. Well I suppose you poked your way into my heart! We had been through both good times and bad. You were always a person with a heart of gold and a big smile! You brought Joy to everyone around you! I just wish we had never lost touch but I always asked about you! There is so many things I would loved to tell you like about how like when I saw you picture up in the Army Recruiting Office I was shocked but so PROUD of you! I love you Robbie and you will always be in my heart and in my thoughts! You are a hero in my eyes thank you for all the sacrifices you made and all that you did! Most of all Thank you For being you! There is no way I could express how much you are missed! My Heart, My Love & my prayers go out to all of Robbie's family and friends.

As your baby leaves the gates of Heaven to be with her mommy you can be assured she past her daddy on the way. How he must have felt to know his precious child would come to comfort you as God was welcoming him and telling him you served your country without question well done my child.

Robbie,

May I never forget the fun we had at Ft. Hood. When we met in Iraq back in 2003, you became not only a friend but a brother. Never again will May 1st go by and me not stop to think about who you are and what you have done. I pray for your wife and wish so much that your daughter could have met the father anyone would like to have.

To the family of Robbie, I think about you guys everyday and hope someday to talk to you and let you know how much Robbie has meant to me.

I love you Robbie and again will never forget you.

To the Family of Cpl. Robbie G. Light:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

I am heartbroken to hear about what happened. Robbie and I have been friends since the 3rd Grade. I can only say that about 1 other person. Robbie I know you are up there watching over all of us. I will always remember you as being the boy who use to sit behind me and pull my hair and poke me with his pencil. Well I suppose you poked your way into my heart! We had been through both good times and bad. I will always remember everything from you being my first boyfriend, those long bike rides you took to my house, to our first run in with the police! You were always a person with a heart of gold and a big smile! You brought Joy to everyone around you! I just wish we had never lost touch but I always asked about you! You were always a wonderful friend! There are so many things I would loved to tell you like about when I saw you picture up in the Army Recruiting Office I was shocked but so PROUD of you! You are one of those special people who not only comes into you life but comes into your heart. I love you Robbie and you will always be in my heart and in my thoughts! You are a hero in my eyes thank you for all the sacrifices you made and all that you did! Most of all Thank you For being you! There is no way I could express how much you are missed!

To Elizabeth as a military wife & mother. I just want to say you are a strong woman! I know in times like these it is easy to lose your faith but if you keep god in your heart he will keep his hands on you and baby Ashlyn. I only hope Robbie's bubbling personality and big bright smile will shine through in his daughter and that she truly knows what a wonderful person her daddy really was and how many hearts he touched! My prayers are with you and the baby.

My Heart, My Love & my prayers go out to all of Robbie's family and friends. I pray we find the strength we need to get through this!

You are truly a hero. May God comfort your family and give them strength. We'll miss you forever.

To the family of Robbie Glen Light:

May God give you peace and comfort during this sad time, I did not know Robbie, but I am an American, and he was fighting for my safety and my freedom, and I just want to say thank you to Robbie, for giving the ultimate sacrifice to keep me that way, his life. I want to thank his family for giving us such a brave, wonderful hero, and I want to thank his wife for the sacrifices she has made being without her husband so that I may remain safe and free, and to his precious baby girl, when you get here, for being a constant reminder that your dad died a hero, and that I will always remember him and his bravery. And to God above, for givimg him life, and courage, and now that Robbie is with you Lord, give him peace throughout eternity. My prayers and thoughts are with you all, thank you again for all that you as his family gave, and thank you Robbie.
