Robert Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2025.
Robert "Scott" Allen, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, July 22nd. He was 55 years old.

Scott was born on September 7, 1969, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1987. He went on to earn his degree in Business Entrepreneurship, with a minor in English, from the University of Alabama in 1992, where he was also a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Scott began his professional career as a commercial real estate appraiser, with his first position taking him to Hilton Head, South Carolina. After a few years, he returned to Alabama to work with Real Property Services, where he gained the expertise and credentials-including his MAI designation, the highest level of recognition from the Appraisal Institute-that would later allow him to become a partner. The company eventually became Tillman Allen Sizemore in Gadsden, where Scott worked for the remainder of his life.

Scott was immensely proud of his three children and a devoted fan of Alabama football and basketball. He loved spending Sunday afternoons cooking for his family and treasured the years he spent coaching his three children in basketball and baseball with Mountain Brook Athletics.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stevenson (Steve) Allen and step brother Chris Anders. Scott is survived by his mother, Trudi White Allen Anders, and stepfather, Rodger Anders; his wife of 26 years, Jennifer (JJ) Gahry Allen; and their children: Maggie Allen, Steve Allen, and Wills Allen. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Tom Gahry, and brother-in-law, Tom Gahry; step-siblings Ginny Sain (Billy) and Rich Anders; and nieces and nephews: Troy Gahry (Sarah), Tori Gahry McCallister (Wyatt), Katherine Sain, Will Sain, AnnLey Anders, Jacob Sain, and Effie Anders. He is also remembered lovingly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues-and, of course, his loyal dog Dibs.

A celebration of life will be held in Scott's name for all of his friends and family on Monday, July 28th at Canterbury United Methodist Church at 3pm. Visitation to begin at 130pm in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Mountain Brook Youth Sports Basketball Program at Mountain Brooth Athletics. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 530774, Birmingham, AL 35253. Please include, "honoring Scott Allen" when submitting your donation.

I am very sad to hear about the passing of Scott. I met Scott many years ago when he had an appraisal assignment in south Alabama. He is a very special person and although I may have only spoken to him a few times a year, we would typically be on the phone together for a much longer time than was needed for the reason of the call simply catching up with each other. I will miss having those opportunities to catch up on his life and what he was doing. I will be praying for his family.
