Robert Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 9 to Sep. 14, 2006.
BAKER _ Robert (Bob) Bruce C.D., L.M.S.M. Major (Ret'd), R.C.A.F. It is with deepest sorrow that Grandson Brandon Baker and I (Doris) announce that our much beloved Pilot "slipped the surly bonds of Earth" on September 5, 2006, and with angels clearing his flight path and God as his co-pilot he departed on his final flight from Earth. Just as he earned his "wings" on Earth, so has he earned his heavenly ones. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-four years, Doris; his dearly loved only grandchild Brandon; nephew Rick and family; godsons, Bruce and Brian Gibson; and by Paul's best "Buddy" Stuart Apperley and family. Bob was predeceased by his son Paul in 1994. Bob spent several months in Cedars Villa before entering the Colonel Belcher and we are most appreciative of the care and concern for him at both locations. As much as it breaks our hearts to part from him, we know he is at peace at last and can no longer be challenged by his many health problems. "You must make this final trip without me, my love, but my thoughts will be with you always. I shall live my life one day at a time and think you are only on "Temporary Duty". I will hold you in my heart until we are together again. Sleep well in the peace you so richly deserve." A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Royal Canadian Legion No. 264 (1910 Kensington Road N.W.) at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Philip Costain officiating and if his health permits, our long-time friend from Lincoln Park days Father Hugh Christmas will also attend. A reception will follow the Service at which time our Grandson Brandon and I will be happy to greet those who have been a part of Bob's and my life for many years. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Diabetes Association (105, 7500 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 0L9) or an organization of your choice. PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES 7016 Farrell Road S.E. Telephone: 216-5111.
