Robert Bazzini

BAZZINI
Robert John (Bob), a longtime Ridgewood resident, passed away peacefully on June 23 at the age of 88.
He is survived by his beloved wife Irene (Capparelli) Bazzini of Ridgewood and his children: Carolyn Bazzini of Paris, France; Anthony and Thea Bazzini of Oak Hill, Virginia; Robin and William Hardy of Midland Park and Robert and Gail-Marie (Flay) Bazzini of West Chester, Pennsylvania as well as six grandchildren.
Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Bob graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering and was a registered professional engineer. He was active for many years in the Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and many other professional associations. During a distinguished career that spanned over 45 years, he specialized in the application and sale of engineered equipment and systems, and worked at a leading manufacturer of marine and industrial equipment as national sales and marketing operations director.
An avid amateur photographer, Bob used his trusty Leica to capture many family moments including photos of the kids and grandkids growing up, high-school and college graduations, family holidays….and in the days before digital cameras, he had his own darkroom to develop the photos himself. Another favorite hobby was his ham radio: he spent many happy hours talking with friends all around the world. Once the digital age arrived, he quickly adapted, becoming a fan of both digital cameras and computers. He loved his gadgets! He also loved music and singing – he had a vast repertoire of songs, and often would burst into song at the drop of a hat (sometimes to the embarrassment of his children when they were growing up). But most importantly, he loved his family. His penetrating intelligence, sense of humor and great love for his family and friends will be sorely missed.
A mass will be held at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street in Midland Park on Saturday, June 27 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sisters of Charity Center, 6301 Riverdale Ave Bronx, NY 10471-1093 http://www.scny.org/
