Robert G. Belk, 82. Robert G. Belk died Monday, August 2, 2021 after courageously battling cancer for over 3 years. Born in Worcester, he is the son of William and Etta(Fletcher) Belk. He spent his childhood in Worcester before moving to Holden. Bob was a hardworking man, having numerous jobs as a teenager before being employed at Jamesbury Corp. for over 40 years. He is best known for his jokes and quick wit in every situation even at the very end of his life. His amazing contentment and thankfulness for the life he had is a great example of who he was as a person. He enjoyed playing sports starting with rollerskating as a teenager. He belonged to many Jamesbury sports leagues including golf, bowling, wallyball, and basketball. In his retirement years he enjoyed walking, meeting friends for coffee and breakfast with his wife Gail at Jake's restaurant in West Boylston. Bob met his wife, Gail, at Old South church in Worcester. They married on June 9, 1962 and started a family soon afterwards. Family was important to Bob. He created opportunities to make special memories through the family vacations to Disney World, Lake Winnipesaukee, Hampton Beach, Texas and Myrtle Beach. He attended the children's sport's games, parties and other meaningful events in their lives. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gail (Sanders) Belk, his 2 daughters, Cheryl Sherman and her husband Donald of Holden, Tammy Acosta and her husband Riggan of Texas, 2 sons, Bobby Belk of New Hampshire and David Belk and his wife Julie of New Hampshire. He is also survived by 4 granddaughters, Melissa Belfield and her husband David of Holden, Nichole Mendes of Framingham, Brianna Dijkstra and her husband Mitchel of Texas, and Katie Sherman of Holden. Also, 3 grandsons, Kyle Sherman of Holden, and Xavier and Jalen Acosta of Texas. He has one great grandson, Christian Mendes of Framingham. He is survived by two sisters and one brother, Marilyn Charland, Frances Fierro and her husband Bob, James Belk and his wife Doris, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill (Red) Belk. A heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors and nurses in the Oncology Dept at UMASS on Lake Ave. for the care and compassion they gave to Bob, with a special thanks to Terry and Anita. Visiting hours and the service will be held Tuesday, August 10 at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St. West Boylston. Calling hours will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home with the service starting at 11:00. Following the service will be a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org

Worked with Bob at Jamesbury, we had a lot of great times and many laughs together!
I remember Bobs love for wife and kids.
We would laugh in the morning at around 11a Bob would call and you would hear him say "What's for Supper?"
So sorry for your loss. May all the good memories you shared help you through this difficult time.
