ROBERT ALLEN BETZ Union Township, Indiana Age 51, a lifetime Union Township resident, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the VNA Hospice Center. He was born April 2, 1954 in Fort Bragg, NC the son of Harold & Kathryn (Farrington) Betz. He graduated from Wheeler high School in 1972, served with the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Electrician on the USS Nimitz, graduated from Purdue University in 1987, had been a Process Automation Engineer since 1988 at LTV / ISG Hot Strip Mill and was nearing completion of his B.A. in Organizational Management at Calumet College of St. Joseph, Whiting. He was a member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and past national Ski Patroller. He will be fondly remembered for his love of helping others and his kind heart. On September 20, 1980 he married Connie Woelfer who survives along with 4 children; Lara (Andrew) Pennino of Arlington Heights, IL, Eric (Jennifer) Lagerstrom of North Judson, Jennifer (Brian) Ferris of Wellington, OH, Annelies Betz (Eric Kappler) of Valparaiso, his father; Harold Betz of Union Township, sister; Cathye Betz of North Judson, 11 grandchildren; Breanna, Alexander, Ian, Brittney, Allison, Andrea, Allen, Katie, Kailee, Nathaniel & Madison, best friends; Steven & Deborah Davies of Valparaiso and his dog "Mopsie". He was preceded in death by his mother; Kathryn. Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a memorial service will be held Sunday, 1:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home. 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with visitation Sunday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Connie~~its been a long time since you helped me with my Sr. Scout troop and their many projects! I am so happy for you that you have had the years of a happy marriage that you have had. I often thought of you and the kids. You and the rest of the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Connie - I know that there are no words that I can give you to help with the pain you have right now. I am so happy that Ed and Bob ( with Al ) had some time together. It was a day that meant a lot to Ed. I find peace in knowing that they are together again. May God watch out over you and your family.

Connie and family,
