Robert Billett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 30, 2017.
Robert William Billett, 94, of Davie, Fl passed away March 25th, 2017. He was born on Dec. 28, 1922 in Youngstown, OH. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and moved his family to Hialeah, Florida in 1956.

Robert was a multifaceted person. He had an endlessly curious mind and a very quick wit, almost to the day he passed. During and after his successful career in business, he developed a passion for woodworking and was very precise in all his endeavors. He loved telling stories about his life and was very generous of heart to everyone.

He honorably served his country during WWII for 4 years where he earned the rank of Corporal, and spent two of those years in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. We would always use to ask him why he moved to Florida, because it was so hot. He would say that if he ever got out of Alaska alive, he was going to move someplace warm.

He was predeceased by his wife, Angela Marie Billett and son, Robert W. Billett, Jr. and is survived by his brother Harold M. Billett (Elaine Billett) of Youngstown, OH , his sister Doris Dixon of Virginia Beach, VA and his 3 children, Suzette Billett-Hecker (Arnold Hecker) of Plantation, FL., son Trent Billett (Denver Edwards) of Davie, FL., son Roger Billett (Arlene Billett) of Pembroke Pines, FL. and his 5 grandchildren, Robert Chiofalo, Tifany Grab, Anthony Billett, Brandon Billett and Nina Billett, and 4 great grandchildren, Robert, Joseph & Michael Chiofalo and Christian Grab.

A viewing will take place for Robert at Forest Lawn South, in Davie, FL. on March 31, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The funeral service will be on Sat April 1, 2017 at St. Maxamilian Catholic Church, in Pembroke Pines, at 10:00 A.M., followed by a burial with military honors at Vista Memorial Cemetery, in Miami Lakes, Florida.

My sincere condolences to the Billett Family. My Uncle Bob was a good person and I have vivid memories of when I was a youngster. He was always giving me positive advice and we shared our interest in photography and model airplane building. Over the past years I could always count on a phone call from Florida from him, he was always interested in my growing family. I will miss him and the phone calls.
