Bob is survived by his wife Judith, daughter Emily, son David (Tiffany) and their three children, and brother Michael Cain.
Bob's legacy will endure not just for his contributions to software engineering, but in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Pittsburgh.
