Robert A. Borgmann, 84 of Indianapolis died April 27, 2011. He was born March 23, 1927 in Indianapolis to William and Edna Roberts Borgmann. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1945 and then served in the US Navy during the latter part of WWII. Robert was a career fireman and retired Captain of the Indianapolis Fire Department after 32 years of service and then retired from Wayne Township Schools where he was a grounds crew member for 15 years. He was a retired active member of the International Association of Fire Fighters. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and several fraternal organizations including more than 50 years as a member of the Englewood Masonic Lodge 715, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Murat Shrine. He also belonged to Murat Fireman’s Club, the American Legion Post 500, Moose Lodge 500, Royal Order of Jester Court 15, Hillbilly Clan #14. He is survived by his son Mark Borgmann and his wife Dixie, daughter Yvonne Woods and her husband Rick, brother Roy Borgmann and his wife Marge ,grandchildren Christopher and Nathan Volheim, Amber Crawford, Tim Corn, Justin and Ryan Woods, and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife Marilyn, his daughter Denise Volheim, his parents William and Edna and his sister Helen Brace. Visitation will be Monday May 2, 2011 from 4-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park Funeral Center. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday May 3, 2011 at 10 AM in the funeral center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Murat Shrine Club’s Transportation Fund.
