Robert Bowman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2007.
BOWMAN Robert C. Rob Bowman Had career in industrial and commercial real estate, 47 Robert C. Rob Bowman, 47, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at home, after an unprecedented and hard fought battle with bone cancer. Friends and relatives may gather at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 EltonAdelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with his funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is private. For directions, information or condolence messages to the family, visit claytonfuneralhome.com. Rob was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved with his family to New Jersey at age 5. He had many passions, including martial arts, where he was a 3rd degree black belt, and an overall standout. He was a superb skier, with a love for the Black Diamonds and moguls with a fearless passion. Rob loved trips to the Caribbean with his wife, son and friends, and where he and his wife felt they belonged and would retire and grow old together. His heart and soul WAS the Caribbean! He was an avid weightlifter and lived an exemplary, healthy lifestyle. Mr. Bowman worked for over two decades in industrial and commercial real estate, and was well-respected and revered by all those with whom he worked and came in contact. Most of all, in his own words, My job is to make my wife as happy as possible. That is what I love to do. And he did. That was just one example of the most unselfish, caring and kind nature everyone saw in Rob. He was never unkind. Mr. Bowman was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Bowman, and leaves his wife of 20 years, Bonny Rae Bowman (nee Greenberg); his beloved son, Ross, whom he loved dearly; his father, David and his wife, Christina; his mother-in-law and friend, Rita Gold, with whom he shared an especially close relationship; a sister, Alison, in Virginia; his in-laws in Arizona; many friends, including his childhood friend, Mike Pierce, and dear friends, Dale, Kenny, Glory, Debbie, Jonathan and Lori, to name a few. He also leaves the family dog, Hobbes, who has given us the consistency and smiles needed during this very challenging year. He was grateful to all his cousins-in-law, who did so much to help during his illness, as well as friends and neighbors. Rob will be painfully missed by many; most of all, the love of his life, best friend and partner, Bonny. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Robs memory may be made to Feed The Children, P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73101-0036, and would be appreciated.

Dear Bonny & Ross:
I am so shocked and truly sorry for your loss. I dont know if you remember me, but we were friends when Ross & Lindsay were in Rainbow World.. such great memories. When Mark told me the news only this morning (Oct. 4th) we were so shocked. I truly cannot put into words my feelings for you both. Rob was such a genuine, nice person. I remember him well and with good thoughts. All of our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I was so shocked to hear about Rob's death. Bonnie, you probably don't even remember me. I met you at Mee Maw's in Minneapolis and Ross was just a baby. I remember finding out how Rob was involved in martial arts, and thinking "me too!" Had we grown up near each other, we probably would have been quite the pair! I'm sorry I didn't know Rob was ill. Please know you and Ross are in my thoughts and prayers.

From Uncle Richard and Aunt Joan, We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Rob's death, and grieving over how families lose contact with one another. It was only the other day, Richard asked, "Which child used to say 'Do it again uh'? I told him that it was Robby who loved to jump and be caught. I remember him as a lively little red haired boy because I haven't seen him since. Our hearts go out to Bonnie and to Ross. We had planned to send flowers but we will make our contribution to Feed the Children in Rob's honor because we, too, care about hungry children. With our love and prayers, Aunt Joan and Uncle Richard

Bonnie, I never met you, but I saw pictures when you and Ross were at Mee-Maw's with Rob. Rob was my cousin, and I'm just stunned. I never got to know him well, but he was so nice to me when we did get to meet up in Minneapolis as kids. He tried so hard to teach me to play chess, and was very patient, even though I wasn't a good learner. And sadly, though I didn't know him, I do remember many stories Mee-Maw would tell about him, and of his adventures. I'd like to think of him catching up with Mee-Maw in heaven now. I am so sorry for you and for Ross, and I know how hard this is for you both. Words like sorry are meaningless, I know, but I can't think of any other words to use right now.
