Robert Bratten Obituary
Robert was born in Houston, Texas on May 18th, 1953, to Vernon G. Bratten, Jr. and Elizabeth S. Bratten. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1971 and went on to attend Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He transferred to The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1975.
After college, Robert went to work for his father in the home-building business and went on to become President of Bratten Construction in 1991. He loved every aspect of the business, from building single-family homes to commercial properties.
Robert married the love of his life, Marcy Williams, in January 1979 and was devoted to her for their 36 years of marriage. He was a loving father, husband, brother, son, uncle, neighbor and friend whose kindness touched the hearts of those he met. He was passionate about playing the guitar and cooking, and shared his love of music and food with his extended family. Robert was a member of Metropolitan Baptist church in Houston.
Robert is survived by his parents, Vernon and Bettye Bratten, his wife, Marcy, his daughter and her husband, Tracy and Tim Herbster, his son, Robert Jr., as well as his brother, Guil Bratten, sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Richard Owen, brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Martha Bratten, brother, Philip Bratten, sister-in-law, Karen Cook, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Bob Davidson, brother-in-law, Jimmy Williams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In Memory of Robert Bratten & for Marcy Bratten
I remember when Robert first started dating Marcy and would talk about her ... His eyes would light up like the morning sun & it seemed that this peaceful easy feeling would overcome him.
I lost touch with Robert when he transferred to University of Texas. Robert & I used to raise all kinds of hell back when he was in high school.
Bratten family I am so sorry for your loss. The Robert I remember was a great guy.

To the Bratten Family,
I am very sorry to hear of Robert's passing. As our next door neighbor on Marsha Lane in the '50s and '60s your family had a lasting impact on my own family and Rob played a significant part. From football in the front yard with Guil, Steve, Rob, and Phil, to pole vaulting in the vacant lot next door, to our infamous lemonade stands orchestrated by Martha, to our days at Hunters Creek, to neighborhood kick-the-can, it all seems like yesterday and Rob was always there. I only knew Rob in those early years until we moved but remember him as a kind and gentle guy with a wry sense of humor and an ever present smile.

To the Bratton family, want to send my condolences for your loss. Robert was such a great and caring person. I feel grateful to have known him. He was a long time friend of my husband, Dick.
Robert was always so helpful to Dick and I. After my husband's passing Robert continued helping me when needed. I spoke with Robert for a while on Tuesday he was speaking of his family plans. I could tell how much he loved his family he spoke of them often.
