BULGER
ROBERT JOHN
Robert John Bulger; beloved husband and best friend of wife, Theresa passed away at their home in Acme, on February 11, 2003, "Bob" met his death as he met life, alert aware with courage and kindness. The former CEO and President of the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital will be sorely missed by his dear daughter, Natalie; two step-daughters, step-son, son-in-law and grandson, Nathanial. Robert devoted his life to service. A faithful son to his parents Dr. Richard and Theresa Bulger of New Enterprise and loving sibling to brother and sister-in-law, Richard H. and Marie Bulger, brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Donald C. and Chris Bulger and "Sis", Jane. He enjoyed the exploits and successes of his nephews John and Andrew and doted on his nieces Amy and Jenna. He was delighted to see their children growing. In addition to serving Westmoreland Country as the CEO of Jeannette from 1987 until September, 2002. Mr. Bulger served in the past as the VP/COO of Roxborough Memorial Hospital, and as Associate Administrator of Pocono Hospital, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Huntingdon County Nursing Home. Many people were fortunate to call Robert their friend. In addition to his "family" from Jeannette District Hospital, he will be sadly missed by his fellow Class of 1972 alumnus of The United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, those who met him while obtaining Graduate degrees from Western Kentucky University and Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, and the fellow referee's of regional High School Football, youngsters he coached in sports and the Hospital softball team. He was a humble man, and dedicated himself to his principles. Called "Bob" by many and "Doc" by others he evidenced his values in his everyday life. He was an avid volunteer, served on Boards and committees too numerous to list, excelled in academics and served his country as a Captain of the US Army in Korea. Without pretension he walked the life that lesser persons talk about. To the end he remained a generous donor of money an time. He loved to bake, garden and restore homes. His happiest days were spent with a tool belt on or pushing a lawn mower at his home in Acme or with his wife walking the beach or tending their garden at their Chincoteague Island, Virginia residence. Most recently he enjoyed working on their Moro Plantation, Maine residence. Robert Bulger was a gentlemen, scholar, officer, and an idealist, a romantic, exemplary husband, exceptional father and good friend. He took pride in his work and appreciated the value of others. Bob was truly conscious of the community he served and admired their work ethic while emulating it with his own unpretentious service. It was his goal that he would be a loyal and honorable man worthy of the laud, " well done good and faithful servant." All who know him acknowledge that as true. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers those desiring to make a contribution in tribute to him do so by donating to the Robert J. Bulger, Presidential Scholarship Fund at Mercy Jeannette Hospital. A memorial service will be held at SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, N. Huntingdon, PA at 7:00pm on Thursday. A wine and cheese reception will follow at the Funeral Home from 8:00pm until 10:00pm. In keeping with his wishes this will be the only service in tribute to him, all who were privileged to know him are welcome to attend.
