Robert Lee Burgess Jr. 88, passed away August 22, 2018 in Fort Worth, TX. He was born on September 21, 1929 in Maryville, Ohio to Robert Lee Burgess and Nellie Frances Stover Burgess. Coming from a large family, everyone pitched in to do their part. Robert dropped out of school to help work on the family farm. At the age of 18, Robert joined the U.S. Army where he became an excellent marksman and achieved the rank of Private First Class and was discharged honorably at the age of 20. He later became a tool and dye maker in the Aerospace industry working at Texstars Inc. and retired in 1994. He was a hard working man and a great carpenter. He enjoyed creating things with his hands. His woodworking skills where very helpful as he gave back to the community by building churches in Ohio and in Texas. He was also a deacon in church and enjoyed country music.

A loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and good friend, Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 sisters, Violet Burgess and Loretta Manns; and his brother, Charles Burgess.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith Marie Glass Burgess; 4 children, Connie S. Steere, Carol L. Henderson and husband Eric, Patricia A. Burgess and James R. Burgess and wife Tommie; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Rebecka Abbott, Ethel Jett, Ralph Burgess and his wife Vivian, and Jane Coil; other family members and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012.
