Robert Cooper Obituary

Robert Allen Cooper, 74, of Orem, Utah, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, in Orem, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born October 7, 1929, in Los Angeles, California, to Perry and Sarah Maria Scoville Cooper. He married Marilyn Irene Smith Wilkin on April 14, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple.


He attended schools in Los Angeles, and graduated from BYU, in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army, from 1953 to 1956, with the 113th Counter Intelligence Corps. He worked for the U.S. Government for 30 years, mainly as Chief of the Financial Division with NASA-Ames Research Center, in Mountain View, CA.


Bob enjoyed hiking, snow skiing, gardening, music; and, his greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed serving others as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including three full-time missions, two part-time missions, and as an ordinance worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.


Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three daughters and three sons: Deborah (Jesse) Judd, Augusta, GA; Linda (Rory) Ward, Orem, UT; Karen Cooper, Modesto, CA; Robert (Georgia) Cooper II, San Jose, CA; Douglas (Suzanne) Cooper, Draper, UT; and David (Wanda) Cooper, Draper, UT; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Northridge 4th Ward Chapel, 150 East 1750 North, Orem, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday evening at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, from 6-8 p.m.; and, at the church, on Thursday morning, from 9:45-10:45 a.m., prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.


The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care offered by Odyssey Hospice and Beehive Comfort Care Center in Orem.
