Robert Crawford Sr.

Robert Crawford Sr. was born on May 14, 1930, in Collbran, Colorado, to Howard and Edna Crawford.

He spent his childhood and school years in Collbran.

As an Army Corporal, he served his country from 1951 to 1953 in the Korea War.

After fulfilling his army duties, he returned home and met his soulmate Ruby Gitchell and they were married on July 1, 1953, in Montrose, Colorado.

Bob had eight sisters and one brother that all are deceased, except for one surviving sister, Patty Ann Shaw of McGill, Nevada.

He is survived by three sons, Rob (Donna), Rex (Jill), Alex (Michele), two daughters, Roxy Taylor, Rita (Jerry) Nye, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

He loved camping, hunting, fishing and four wheeling.

Throughout the years, he helped his sons; son-in-laws, grandsons and friends build, and maintain their stock cars. He had a special talent when it came to working on any type of automotive projects.

He was a talented master carpenter and helped build many homes throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

When called upon he used his skills to help his family with any projects that needed done.

In the final few years of his life, he spent a good deal of his time, making a variety of wooden models.

Bob passed away on October 17, 2024 at The Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction.

There will be a dual service for Bob and Ruby on November 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. This portion of the service will have a live streaming link available on the Callahan-Edfast Website. They will be laid to rest together in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction at 1:00 PM, with a brief service.
