Robert deForest Obituary
Robert was the pastor of three churches in New York, where he served for 40 years: Lakeview Community Church in Rochester, Second Reformed Church in Schenectady, and Hawthorne Reformed Church in Hawthorne. He was an inspiring preacher, and a faithful and caring pastor.
He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, David and William. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Mary (Whitlock); his two children Donna (Richard) Worssam of Kent, England; and Timothy (Susan) deForest of Holland, Michigan; five grandchildren: Christopher (Emily) and Matthew Worssam; and Michael (Merlinda), Tiana and Daniel deForest; a brother, Carroll (Betty) deForest of Gray Hawk, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing the piano, spending time in nature, reading, playing games and doing projects on his computer. He had a strong faith and a caring heart.
A family memorial service was held on November 30th, 2024.

Robert was 6 years older than me but throughout his life we were good friends and his family hosting our youth fellowship at Duane lake was an incredible adventure that we all looked forward to. One night when I was probably about 15 Robert called me and asked if I wanted to go to a drive-in movie with him and of course I did. We went to a movie titled "Hoodlum Priest" I don't know why he selected that particular movie but perhaps he felt that my life might be personally slipping into that direction (hoodlum not priest). I remember it as a good movie but I don't know that the hoodlum direction ever really materialized. Robert was a very good, kind and gentle person as is his entire family With Love, Bob Sutton
