Robert Durst Obituary
Born April 21, 1948, in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Ernest and Sarah Perry Durst.
Robert was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was discharged as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He also was a firefighter in the Air Force.
He later worked at Gentex Corp. before finding his passion as a certified nursing aide at the Forest City Nursing Home, where he retired after 25 years.
He enjoyed yard work, singing and Christmastime. He loved cooking and baking for his family, and they will miss his favorite dishes such as lasagna and sugar cookies. Along with his children and grandchildren, he cherished his dogs, Dutchess, Buster and Stark.
He is survived by three children, Robert H. Durst Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Whites Crossing; Sabrina Wagner and husband, Joe Sr., of Carbondale; and Michelle Cipilewski and husband, Mike, of Waymart; four grandchildren, Tyler and Jaxon Durst, Eric Race-Durst, Joey Wagner Jr., and a fifth grandchild that is due on Jan. 3; two sisters, Delores Harris and Beverly Dearie, both of Carbondale; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ernest, Jerry, James, Alan and Henry Durst; and one sister, Naomi Rude.
The funeral and military honors will be Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 4 Morris Place, Carbondale, celebrated by Pastor Donald Perry.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 service time.
