I had the privilege of knowing Bob since the late 70's and knew that my home was in good hands when he purchased it from me. I was deeply saddened on recently learning of his passing. My memories are filled with his great stories, his laugher and his incredible gift at pulling off wonderful dinner parties of friends, fine food, conversation and laughter. His life was cut far too short. My sincere condolences to Stephen.

I have known dear Bob since the 1970's when he was with Peter (also a wonderful friend). Although we haven't seen each other often in recent years, any time we met it was as though no time had passed. When he spoke it was always like a long verbal hug with his kindness, laughter and genuine attention. I just learned of Bob's passing and felt the pain of a light extinguished in my heart but it soon was replaced with the light of so many wonderful memories. Thank you Bob. You will be missed. You were taken from us much too young.

I knew Bob when I worked at the Shadyside Action Coalition in the 1980s. I remember thinking at the time that if all residents behaved the way that Bob did, we wouldn't need a citizens' organization. He was the essence of decency, a genteel and caring man. I am grateful that I knew him.

Bob; Dave and I will miss our dinners together, trips afar and stories shared with you....Save some for our times to come....

I remember once Bob was telling us a story about somebody's children or some such thing and we asked him why he didn't have kids and he said "kids?!?, I have a hard time with live plants!"

Always the consummate gentleman with some of the funniest stories I ever heard. Steven, my sincere condolences in your loss.

You knew when you were in for a good story when Bob pulled you aside and whispered into your ear at the back of his hand. Always, always the gentleman, but never without at least a hint of playful devilishness. There will be no other like our Bob Eppinger.

I first met Bob when I started working at Westinghouse Transportation in 1984. I worked with Bob for 20 years. In addition, Bob worked with various members of my family that worked in the same industry. He was always very lively and entertained us with fabulous stories of his travels. I worked more closely with Bob on projects where I got to know him better. He was always kind, considerate and honest. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Bob will be sorely missed on the streets of Pittsburgh where we bumped into him during his walks. To Bob’s family and loved ones please accept my condolences for your sudden loss.

Bob and I had mutual friends and I did not know him very well, but I was impressed how each time he saw me he greeted me, took time to talk and to ask how I was doing. He was a real gentleman, and he lived the phrase "any friend of yours is a friend of mine." That kind of class is very rare and will be missed.

Bobbie,

What are we going to do without your wonderful stories and insights into situations. You had such a wonderful life, we were all hanging on to every word.

You were a wonderful friend, and I will always remember you.

Imagine the beauty of it--
That moment when the soul of a loved one
returns to the stars,
Each voice whispering,
"I remember you!"
