Robert Evans Obituary

Robert George Evans, 87, of Arnold, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at home. Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Tarentum, he was a 1936 graduate of Tarentum High School and a resident of the Alle-Kiski Valley all his life. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in New Guinea, Australia, the Philippines and Luzon, and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Evans was a truck driver for Allegheny Ludlum, Brackenridge Works, West Penn Hat & Cap, Arnold, and Texaco Oil Co. He retired in 1980. A private pilot, he enjoyed flying and was a member of an ultra light flying club. He also enjoyed working on cars and could repair all aspects of them including bodywork, mechanical and electrical systems. Survivors include his daughter, Carole A. Kristof of Lower Burrell; son, Robert L. Evans of Herndon, VA.; five grandchildren, John E. "J" (Melissa) Kristof, David A. (Lauren) Kristof, Michael T. (Rose) Evans, Erin L. Evans and Michelle R. Evans; six great-grandchildren, Adam D. Kristof, Nicole M. Kristof, Chelsea M. Kristof, Zachary Evans, Michael Evans and Haley Evans; his sister, Margery E. "Marge" Cameron of Lower Burrell; nephew, Scott E. (Lynda) Cameron; niece, Cathleen E. Cameron; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. His parents, Harry Oliver and Zola Elizabeth Moss Evans, preceded him in death. Private visitation was held in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
