Robert Ambrose "Bob" Fallon

Fallon, Robert Ambrose "Bob" age 82, of Mpls, died peacefully November 9, 2013. He was born in Hutchinson, MN to Ambrose and Marie (Waldron) Fallon. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margaret and brother, Donald. Survived by his wife, Helen (Halliday); daughter, Mary (William Skarstad); 2 grandchildren, Murphy and Frances. Bob led a life of calm, dry-witted spirituality, compassion and achievement. He entered the Christian Brotherhood as a teen, attended St. Mary's of Winona (B.A.), DePaul University in Chicago (M.Ed.), and the University of Minnesota (Ph.D.). Bob championed education professionally: from High School Principal to District Superintendent (MN, SD and IN) to state education director. In 1970, Bob gave up his religious habit to the Christian Brothers and married Helen; a year later their daughter Mary was born; and he warmly embraced life as a devoted, loving husband and father. For the next 43 years, Bob developed lifelong friendships as strong as family among the communities he served as superintendent and in retirement. He will be greatly missed and eternally admired. Funeral Mass 10 AM Friday, November 15 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave S., Bloomington, MN 55420. Visitation 1 hour prior with lunch following service all at the church.
