DR FARKAS WAS EXCEPTIONALLY BRILLANT AND GIFTED IN THE FIELD OF OBSTETRICS. HE AND HIS LOVELY WIFE ATTENDED TO ME DURING MY PREGANCY IN 1971 AND HE DELIVERED BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN 1971 AND 1974. HE WAS THE KINDEST AND MOST GENTLE DOCTOR I HAD EVER BEEN TO. IT SADDENS ME TO KNOW OF HIS PASSING.

Dear Pat,

What a treat it was to have Bob as both our great friend and devoted doctor who delivered our daughters, Kathi and Debbi! We have wonderful memories of the times we spent with you and Bob. We extend our deepest condolences to you at this time.

A note written to Fred Newman, my best friend growing up in York, PA, who was the nephew of Dr Farkas:

My mother mentioned today on the phone that your uncle passed away. My wife , brother and parents wish to express our sorrow his wife Pat, to you, your brothers, and your mother on the passing of Dr. Farkas.

In addition to the friendship of my parents for your parents, and of Keith and me for you and Bruce, we have the added connection that Dr Farkas married Pat Brown, the daughter of the minister in the church where I grew up.

My parents wish that they could attend the services this Sunday, but at 85 and 90, their health does not permit coming from Hanover. I was just in York this past weekend, and our son Jason will be visiting us in NJ this weekend from Atlanta, where he is attending graduate school at Georgia Tech. Otherwise, I would consider coming to York to express our sympathies in person.

Please say hello to the family for me, Keith and our parents. Keith will be in PA from March 17 to 31, should Bruce be in York during that time.

Fondly,

Gregg Aughenbaugh, on behalf of brother Keith and parents Elmer and Ferne

Bob was a loving step-father, my best friend as an older teenager, and a wonderful role-model as a physician and healer. He offered me friendship, adventure, experience in the hospital, rides in the beautiful Southern Pennsylvania countryside, and endless conversations regarding books, ideas, events, and human nature. He will always be an ineffable part of my heart and my soul.
