His guidance, “ Bobisms”and friendship made me a better person and made the Clark county school district a bette4 place for students and their teachers. As president of the union, Bob was so helpful to me.

Not sure Bob would even have remembered me. I was two or three years younger, which is a lot when you're a kid. Brooklyn in the 1950s. Bob's parents, Vincent and Ruth. Bob was the last word in cool. Did he play his sax in later life? I hope so. Rest in peace, Bob. All good wishes to his family.

I am immensely saddened. I was tracking you down and found this obituary. What a legacy to be proud of... It extends beyond being an exemplary father and husband. I know many of us list you as one of our heros. We all thank you for your leadership and teaching us to lead. First by enlightening us to truly see our world from different "windows". Next by "strengthening the warrior". Then by cultivating boundaries and strong relationships. You taught us to identify true love as well as compassion for mankind despite our differences. I'm sure the Lord praises you as well.

Personally, you opened my eyes and gave me perspectives that have transformed this once lost and naive man to the leader I am today. My spouse and children thank you for that.

I pledge to always in your honor share your teachings. Currently and for years, I truly do this daily. Including carefully crediting "Dr Bob". I pledge to teach your legacy in both my personal life as well as in my professional practice.

Now, I trust you are in a heavenly place enjoying Cherry Garcia ice cream to your heart's content. I see you embracing your premiere angel Doris. I hope and pray that you both visit us as our guardian angels.

bob was a good school psychologist with a great sense of humor....as a speech path, I once had a conversation with him about a vocalist "r"....he teased me for weeks after that about a "metallic r"! He will be missed. Susan Thomas

Although he is technically my cousin, I have always thought of Bob as my uncle. Uncle Bob was the most educated person I have ever known, and had such diverse knowledge in so many areas. I can credit him with my having mastered the art of sarcasm. He also gave me five bucks when I was a kid for having nice teeth. That made a huge impact on my oral hygiene. Because of the impact he made on each life he came in contact with, he will never be forgotten. Love you bunches Uncle Bob! Until we meet again, Lori Sue

Although Bob was technically my cousin, I always thought of him as an uncle, which is why I referred to him as Uncle Bob. He had such a silly side to him. He also had a sarcastic, witty side. I'm pretty sure he is the one my husband and kids can thank for my daily use of sarcasm. He had so much knowledge and was quite diverse in the things he had knowledge in. He certainly had a higher education than anyone else I personally know. Uncle Bob spoke into many lives during his life, including mine. He

I knew Robert for many years, through his relationship with my daughter, Juli Shapiro. He was a wonderful man and a great friend to her. My condolences to his family.

Somewhere a journey begins at the end of the worldly existence we know, somewhere a path stretches over the stars, and rivers of memories flow somewhere a silence is heard for away and the brightness of the day fills the night, where the trials of life are resolved into peace when a soul finds its way to the light. May it comfort you to know that your father is now at peace.
My dear friend you will be missed.

Our family asks that anyone who would like to send flowers donate to the Center for Disability Services in Albany New York instead. This is where Bob's grandson receives on-going services, as well as others with cerebral palsy, etc. It is www.cfdsny.org/donations. Please say In Loving memory in your comments. His grandson is Robbie Bethea.

My memories are of a man who truly loved his wife and family. A man who fought for the rights of all people and influenced the lives he touched. Though infrequent, I enjoyed the conversations we had. Here's to a life well lived. Well done Uncle Bob; you will be missed!

One of the finest, most loving men to walk this planet. I'm blessed, honored, and thankful that I get to call him family. We'll miss you, Dear Robert. Stars sparkle brighter with you there in heaven. Thanks for so many gifts and a precious legacy we'll carry with us always.

Hello Daddyo, I know you would be so thrilled to know how much you are loved and that your "girls" are getting business done for you! We shared a whole lifetime of love and important memories during the last twenty months or so. I am so proud you claimed me as your "son"…more than a son-in-law, and we could share our love of world politics, art, jazz, and social justice for persons of color. I will never forget our fathers' day together this year. I enjoyed making you laugh and watching you profile in front of your friends. In the end, Dad, you gave all of your family and friends the best you had to offer. I think of you so often now…a free man…no scooters….no oxygen hose…dancing, as always, to your own tune! Long live the "king of cool" in the clouds…in our hearts..

Love Forever, Ted

I only had the pleasure of knowing my cousin over the past few years. We did get to share some wonderful times together and meet a few more wonderful lost relatives. My only regret is that we missed so much of knowing each other all through life. He was so enjoyable to spend time with, a man who was proud and loved his family so. I will always miss him.

I love you so much Dad. Memories flood me - from the times I danced on your feet to the tunes of Nat King Cole and Harry Belafonte when I was just a little girl - to the embrace you gave at my wedding - to the big voice and big love you had for me and our family. So glad I could be with you when the angels came to take you home. You are always "Unforgettable" in every way.
