Robert Fields Obituary
Robert Sanford Fields, of Stamford, died December 6, 2017, two weeks before his 88th birthday. Born December 20, 1929, to Maurice and Esther (née Chiz) Fields. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS New Jersey BB62. He was a graduate of The Peddie School, Class of 1947, Brown University Class of 1951 and Tufts University Dental School. He came to Stamford and established a thriving orthodontic practice from which he retired only one year ago, after close to 60 years. A pillar of the Stamford community, he served on countless boards, including Stamford Hospital, Family Centers and Temple Beth El. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan (née Flax), and his loving children Steven August (Anne), Andrea Oley (Bob), Ellen Osman and Kate Osman (Bart). Also survived by his nine doting grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road in Stamford on Friday December 8 at 10 a.m. Donations should be made to the Stamford Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr.Fields . We were fortunate to have had the pleasure of having Dr.and Mrs. Fields as long term clients of our store. Seeing him approach our front door we always knew he was heading back to our estate room to visit our vintage watch collection to see our new acquisitions.He loved to handle the special timepieces and admire their complexity and design. He was rarely without Mrs. Fields and wouldn't leave without trying to convince her to allow him to buy "just a little something for her". Dapper... curious...soft spoken and attentive to Mrs.Fields these will be my memories of him.

Joan and family
It is with sadness that I learn of Bob's passing. As one of Bob's early orthodontic associates, I remember fondly of what I learned from him. He was amongst the most skilled Orthodontists I have ever come across- now 30 years into it. Bob was about the pursuit of excellence and I am indebted to his instilling this in me.
I had lunch with him several years ago at Tufts and he was the same as I remembered him.
I am sorry to hear this news and wish you all comfort in the memories that you created together

Sincere sympathy to all of you at this difficult time. My husband & I ran into Dr.Fields this past summer at the Wound Care Center. We talked about when he treated both my kids over 30 years ago. I was so surprised he remembered both of them. Dr. Fields was a kind and gentle man; his office was such a happy place and Marty & the staff made visits fun, not to mention the resulting perfect smiles.

Our lives crossed in so many ways, he went to school with my mom, had his haircut where I worked, fixed my husbands smile when he was a kid, then our children's smile, friends with our dentist and my husband serviced his car. We are so sad to hear about Dr. Fields. We send our condolences to your family.
It has been such a pleasure over the last few years to spend holiday evenings together. Dr. Fields kept the conversations lively and interesting. For a few hours, he was part of our family and he will be missed.

My condolences to the family. Dr. Fields was my orthodontist while I was in high school. I remember him being so nice and truly caring. I loved his office and the people there were amazing.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Fields, he was my orthodontist when I was in high school, and when I got married and had two boys of my own, who would have known that their dentist would have recommended Dr. Robert Fields as their orthodontist.
