Robert Filloon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2007.
PASADENA, Texas - Robert J. Filloon started life in Pocahontas, Iowa, and later moved to Minnesota, South Dakota and Nebraska, moving to St. Joseph in 1967. He graduated from Central High School in 1969 and attended Missouri Western State College. Robert married Sherry Barger on Dec. 30, 1981 ,and together they loved and raised their beloved dog, Gigi, to the age of 17. Robert lived in the Houston area for 28 years and was living in Pasadena, Texas, at the time of his death.
Robert loved his family very much and enjoyed being with them, but he also loved working on the railroad. Robert worked on the Rock Island in St. Joseph and Des Moines, Houston Port and Terminal, and the Union Pacific Railroad in Houston. More than work, Robert loved to play. Robert absolutely loved fishing in northern Minnesota, specifically Little Boy Lake, where he proudly caught a musky at the age of 11. Robert also loved teaching his nieces and nephews how to fish, and they have all learned well. Robert was anxiously awaiting the opportunity to retire and move back to St. Joseph and vacation on the lake in Minnesota.
His father-in-law, Jesse J. Barger, preceded him in death, along with all grandparents and many uncles and aunts.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Sherry and puppy dog, Andy. He also leaves behind his parents, Robert R. and Therese V. Filloon, and mother-in-law, Alice J. Barger, all of St. Joseph. Robert leaves his sister, Janet Zeiger, husband, Ron; nephew, Ryan; niece, Rachel Zeiger Hinrikus; her husband, Adam, and baby Liam. Robert also leaves his sister, Jacqueline Eagan; husband Roy E.; niece, Paula Eagan Noble; her husband, Chris; niece, Jill and nephew, Roy K.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A graveside service and celebration of Robert's life will be announced at a later date.

Robert, it was with much guilt and trepidation that I went ahead and had our family vacation in Hawiaii--just a short 3 days after you left us. Both Ryan and Rachel apprecitated you visiting them in dreams. We will celebrate you whenever we are together and remember the good times! Love, Big Sister Janet

Robert will be missed by Joe, Diane and Pooky. His humor, love of life, and ability to be a friend to everyone will be remembered. We will also never forget his fantastic ribs which he would cook at a moments notice for us. Also to my loving cousin Sherry, we will always be sisters.

Robert,

You were the best uncle and so much more than that. Because you gave me so much love growing up, I knew never to settle for less. I miss your more than words could ever express, but I am so thankful for everything you taught me, all the memories you left and for my aunt Sherry. This time would be impossible if it wasn't for her and she is probably the best gift you ever gave me (even better than that bunny :-)).

I love you always, Paula Marie

We are very sorry to hear of Robert's passing. We have fond memories with Robert when we were all going to Missouri Western College and doing things with the Knights of Columbus.
Robert was a groomsman at our wedding in 1973. We had lost touch when He moved to Texas and had started e-mailing a few years ago when we ran into Jackie.
We will really miss Robert, He truly was a great friend!

With deepest sympathy,
Mike and Margo Feiden
