Robert Firmature Obituary

Published by Omaha World-Herald from Jan. 23 to Jan. 26, 2014.
Firmature, Robert
Edward
Age 79

Passed away on January, 20, 2014, at his home in Los Fresnos, TX. Robert (aka Bob, Bobby, Papa) was born and raised in Omaha. Bob was the youngest of Joseph and Barbara Firmature's 3 sons. He joined the Navy at 17 where he thoroughly loved working on submarines for 3 years. He then traveled the United States working in the hospitality business. Bob returned to Omaha in the '60s and began working in the family restaurant and bar business with his brothers. In 1968, he married his wife, Arleta; they had 5 daughters and 1 son. Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and considered them his legacy. Bob loved traveling on the train and feeding seagulls while walking on the beach. He was preceded in death by brother Ernest Firmature; sister-in-law Betty Firmature; nephew Michael Firmature; nephew Jay Thomas Firma-ture; and great-nephew Ryan Furlow. Bob is survived by brother, Joseph (Jay) Firmature; sister-in-law Gloria; children, Twila Firmature (Shannon), Starla Salter (Tom), Rhonda Reep, Rob Firmature, Sabrina Howes (Kevin), and Shauna Cihacek (Joe); nieces, Jaye McCoy and Cathy Furlow; nephews, Steve Firmature and TJ Firmature; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and dear friends, Joe and Vickie Salerno, and Manuela and Anselmo Garza.
The family will have a CELEBRATION of Bob's Life later in 2014 per Papa Bob's wishes. In lieu of flowers, Papa Bob would have liked for you to take your family out to enjoy ice cream.

Bobby and his brother Jay had such an impact on my life.I can never thank them enough for instilling a work ethic in me that has given me the ability to earn my way, an example of love kindness and generosity that helped me socially and strength and tenacity to overcome problems. They were great hearts and minds those Firmatures and gracious enough to share their best. Bobby lived and loved all that God gave, he took whatever life threw his way, turned it to something pleasing and shared it. I hold every memory of him close to my heart and appreciate the influence he had on my life . And the fun and laughter we shared with the characters that made up the Brothers Lounge. A great man, a great father and a great friend. With love to Bob and his fine family. Jan
