Robert Paul Fiset

Robert Paul Fiset, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Brimfield, Massachusetts, passed away on July 14th, 2023, at the age of 84, in Brimfield, Massachusetts. Born on November 10, 1938, in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Marcel and Delphine Fiset. His battle with serious medical issues over the last year showed his courage in facing life's challenges with his renowned sense of humor and laughter. Bob stayed strong until the end.

Bob graduated from Provincetown High School in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where his family moved in his mid-teens. His mother, Delphine, was of Portuguese descent. Being part of Provincetown's vibrant Portuguese community influenced all aspects of Bob's life and brought him much happiness. Whether it be his Portuguese family members, the fishermen, and the restaurants, Bob cherished these connections his entire life.

Bob's love of children and sports led to a career as a Physical Education Teacher. He graduated from Boston University in 1968 with a B.A. in Education and spent the next 45 years teaching physical education, health, nutrition, and coaching. Most of these years were spent at Glenbrook Middle School in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where his former students still remember "Bombardment with Coach Fiset."

Bob enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, cooking, camping, fishing, and woodworking. He was a voracious reader. At home, he always had his morning coffee and newspaper in hand. Bob was the "fun Uncle" to all who met him. He could talk your ear off about many subjects: from sports to politics, old movies, art, world history, and gardening.

Bob will be remembered and missed by his wife of fifty-nine years, Paulette Banichar, his daughters Nicole Fiset and Gabrielle Fitzgibbon, his son-in-law Matthew Fitzgibbon, granddaughter Margaret Fitzgibbon and brother Donald Fiset along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

As per Bob's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. We invite you to donate in his honor to the Overlook Visiting Nurse Association Home Care & Hospice. This can be done at www.overlook-mass.org/support-overlook/ and specify "Hospice."
