NEWBURYPORT — Robert L. "Bob" Fournier, beloved husband of Beryl (Redman) Fournier, of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Newburyport on July 7,1934, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Dunn) Fournier of Newburyport. He is a Newburyport High School graduate of the class of 1952.
Bob was the owner of "Bob's Barber Shop" in Newburyport for over 40 years. He also coached his sons in the Newburyport Pioneer League and Newburyport Youth Hockey League.
Bob will be remembered for the joy he had playing golf, bicycling, gardening, and putting around his homes in Newburyport and Englewood, Fla., and most of all spending time with his family.
He was also a member of the Newburyport Elks Lodge and a member of the Rowley Country Club and a past member of the National Guard.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Bob is survived by John Fournier and his wife Nina of Newburyport, David Fournier and his wife Diane of Newburyport, Lisa Mulato and her husband Jim of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Paul Fournier and his wife Erin of Newbury, his sisters, Colleen Smith of St. Louis, Dorothy Desmond and her husband, William, Kathleen Gagne and her husband Jack, and Carol Churniak and her husband Steve, all of Newburyport, his grandchildren, D.J. Fournier, Calvin Fournier and Emily Fournier of Newburyport, Christian Fournier and Eric Fournier of Newbury, Andrew Mulato, Bobby Mulato and Christina Mulato of Mission Viejo, Calif. He leaves his mother-in-law, Rita Redman and his sister-in-law, Marsha Lee, as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Green Street, Newburyport. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport. Calling hours will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Twomey LeBlanc Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport.
