Robert Michael Freeman April 4, 1969 - October 31, 2013 Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. for Taft native, Robert Michael Freeman, 44. Rev. Rodney Wikoff, pastor of West Hills Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Mr. Freeman was born in Taft on April 4, 1969 and passed away in Bakersfield on October 31, 2013. He was raised and educated in Taft and graduated from high school in 1988. Mr. Freeman was employed as an animal control officer for the County of Kern. He attended the West Hills Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Gibson and by his grandparents. Mr. Freeman is survived by his three sons, Skyler, Branson and Isaiah Freeman; his dad, Dan Gibson; his father, Barry Freeman; his brother, Mark Gibson; his stepsister, Cindy Schummy and his very special friend, Suzanne. The family would like to thank Tara, a fellow animal control officer, for her help during Robert's hospitalization. No visitation hours are scheduled. Robert, I am bummed to hear about your passing. I will always remember the good times we had a Mesa Verde, that sly grin you always had that reminded me of the Cheshire cat. We shared lots of laughs, and usually at the expense of Sgt.Taylor or Lt. Walker. But with all joking aside, I always appreciated your insight and suggestions when dealing with situations as they arose in our day to day duties. I'm sorry we lost contact, but I trust you know that my thoughts go out to you.
