ROBERT B. "BOB"
Age 86, of Versailles Borough, died February 23, 2018, at The Palms at O'Neil in McKeesport. Born September 15, 1931, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Blair J. and Eleanor G. (Barry) Furlong; and the husband of the late Rita (Gabauer) Furlong. Bob was a member of St. Patrick Church and Claude Beltz Post 380, American Legion. A McKeesport High School Class of 1949 graduate, he spent his 37 year career with Bell Telephone and AT&T. Bob will be remembered for his strong work ethic, willingness to help others, and kind spirit. Survivors include son, Robert J. (Rose) of Albuquerque, NM; stepdaughter, Pattie (Charles) Gross of Dravosburg; grandchildren, David and Joseph (Savannah) Furlong, of Albuquerque, NM; step-grandchildren, Charles (Denise), Michael (Kara), and Scott Gross of Dravosburg. Robert was preceded in death by son, William C.; grandson, Michael R. Furlong; stepdaughter, Sandra Tison; step-granddaughter, Carrie Ann Gross. Family and friends will be received at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME in McKeesport on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, celebrated by Fr. Thomas J. Galvin. Entombment will follow at New St. Joseph Mausoleum in North Versailles. Condolences may be shared at willigfuneralcremationservices.com. Bob's family extends a heartfelt, "thank you" to The Palms at O'Neil and UPMC Family Hospice for their care and compassion.
