Holden, Maine and Lakeland, Fl. Robert "Bob" Gass III-a man known for his boisterous laugh, exuberant smile, and a charmingly wicked sense of humor-passed away November 8, 2025, in Lakeland, Fl.



Bob was born on November 26, 1940, to Robert B. Gass Jr. and Mary Gass..He attended Brewer High School and enlisted in the Army for three years. In 1967, Bob joined the Bangor Fire Department where he built a legacy as the purveyor of fun times and great mischief.

In retirement, Bob and Freda moved to Lakeland,Florida.Bob enjoyed spring training, golf, endless buffet options, and time with friends who thought of him as "quite the character."

In addition to his parents,Bob was predeceased by his sister Maureen Hayes and son Fred Kenney Sr.. He is survived by his wife Freda Gass, daughter Lisa Yachanin and husband Eric, Grandchildren Stefanie and Michael Veneziano and Fred Kenney Jr., sister Barbara Thompson and husband John, sister-in-law Barbara Carpenter, nieces Jennifer Oliveira, Kimberly Thompson, Rebecca Thompson, Joanie Howard, and nephew J.R. Thompson, numerous friends and cousins in Maine, Florida, and New York. Special friends Laura and Harley Anderson.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held in The spring of 2026.
