Robert Elmer Goad

Robert Elmer Goad, 74, of Carlsbad, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Landsun HSC. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at West Funeral Home Chapel. Joe Hayes of 10th and Lea Church of Christ will officiate. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com Robert (Bob) Elmer Goad was born to Elmer B. and Euna (Lott) Goad on June 12, 1943 in Carlsbad, NM. He was raised in Carlsbad and graduated from CHS with the class of 1961. Bob retired from both Duval Potash and Carlsbad Municipal Schools, where he was employed as a carpenter. Bob loved woodworking and building with his hands. Bob was passionate about Little League Baseball and coached many young men over the years with the American League Indians team. Bob loved people and never met a stranger. He was a long time faithful member of 10th and Lea Church of Christ. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Euna Goad, brother Ray Goad and sisters June Plumlee and Mary Magette. He is survived by sons: Lesley D. Goad (wife Lisa) of New Braunfels, TX, and Lonnie J. Goad (wife Valeria) of Sealy, TX, brother Kenneth Goad (wife Dolores) of Livermore, CA, sister Nita Brannan (husband Carl) of Carlsbad. Former wife Virginia Burgin of Carlsbad and lady friend Lidia Mills also of Carlsbad. He cherished his grandchildren: Maddie Goad, Tyler Goad and Ryan Goad. Bob was also blessed with extended grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews including Sam Plumlee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or an organization of your choice.
