Robert Hunt Gregg, Sr. 90, of Fort Smith, died January 10, 2013 in Fort Smith. He was born May 20, 1922 in Fort Smith to Robert William and Sofronia Grace Hunt Gregg. He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School class of 1940 and an active member of the Alumni Association. He attended Fort Smith Junior College and graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1947 with a BSBA degree. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 through 1945. He was assigned to the Air Transport Command, North African division and Asia Pacific Division. Beginning in 1947 until 2002 he worked in various executive positions for Hunt's Department Stores, Gregg's Stores and Louann's Fashions. He was a 50 year member of the Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club and Belle Point Lodge #20 AF&M. Following retirement from the department store business he served ten years as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Western Arkansas Division, where he was a disaster instructor, worked on numerous local and national disasters and was a member of the Board of Directors. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and served on the Official Board, First Methodist Foundation, member of the Seekers Bible Class, the United Methodist Men, served as Stephen's Minister Care Giver, and was a volunteer in the Angel Food Ministries. He is survived by his wife Naomi L. Gregg of the Home; one son, Robert Hunt Gregg, Jr & wife Alicia of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Lou Ann Keith & husband Brian of Nampa, Idaho; one sister, Lucy Gregg Werntz & husband Frank David of Muskogee, OK; one stepson, Donald Platt & wife Lou Ann of St. Charles, MO; step daughter, Anne Rosenberg of Muldrow, OK; six grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by and his first wife and mother of his children, Wanda Cristee Gregg; son, William R. Gregg, and brother, Richard T. Gregg. Memorial service will be Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in the Oak Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church 200 North 15th Fort Smith, AR 72901 or the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.
